Customizing Existing Marketing Templates
The EurekaWare Real Estate contact management software add-in for Microsoft Outlook leverages the power of close integration between Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word. It helps you, as a realtor, to easily create beautiful marketing flyers without having to retype the property information from Outlook into Word. EurekaWare has done that work for you.
Open a template to change the layout and formatting
The EurekaWare real estate marketing templates are simple Microsoft Word document templates. If you know how to change layouts and formatting in Microsoft Word you can do the same with a EurekaWare template.
To change the layout or formatting of a template, open the template in Microsoft Word:
- Start Microsoft Word.
- Select File > Open to open a document
- Select Document Templates in the Change the Files of Type field of the Open Documents window.
- Use the Look In navigator at the top of the Open Documents window to find the Eurekaware templates directory. The templates are in this directory: 'C:Documents and SettingsUserApplication DataMicrosoftTemplatesEurekaWare.'
- Note: This folder may be hidden. To make it visible, open Windows Explorer, select the Tools > Folder Options menu option. Then click on the View tab. In the Advanced Settings window, change the option to Show hidden files and folders.
- Select one of the provided templates to open it.
- The template opens in Microsoft Word.
- The template is a collection of formatted text boxes that contain tags that reference Outlook fields.
- To change the formatting or layout, simply follow standard Microsoft Word procedures. You can learn more about about text boxes by pressing F1 for the Microsoft Word help file.
Add fields to a real estate marketing template
You can easily modify the provided EurekaWare real estate marketing templates. You can add standard Outlook fields such as Last Name or Home Phone, and you can add EurekaWare custom fields. To add Outlook contact information (stored in Outlook fields) from one of the EurekaWare provided templates:
- Go here to view a comprehensive list of all Outlook contact fields including the EurekaWare custom fields.
- Follow the procedure above to open an existing template in Microsoft Word.
- Adding Fields. Type in the exact name of the field you identified in step 4 surrounded by the less than and greater than keys. For example, type <Bathrooms (To Sell)> to include the number of bathrooms in your marketing template. You can place these fields anywhere in your document template. You can add as many fields as you like to the template.
- Adding Images. First insert any picture into the template as a
picture holder. Size the picture to the dimensions you want. Then link it
to the image by opening the format picture dialog (this can be done by double
clicking the image). Then click the 'Web' tab and enter the field name (e.g.
TosTxtImagePath1) in the Alternative text box. There are 6 images associated
with each contact they are named TosTxtImagePathX where X is the image number 1
through 6.
